Rødne's Arctic Fjord Cruise is the classic sightseeing option in Tromsø: a 3.5-hour catamaran trip out of the city harbour and into the fjord landscape around the island. Routes head into fjords such as Kaldfjord and Grøtsund, depending on weather and where the wildlife is. Sea eagles and seals turn up regularly; like everywhere in nature, sightings are possible, not promised.
On board it is deliberately simple: panorama seating inside, deck space outside, and a kiosk selling snacks and drinks rather than a served lunch. Reviewers consistently praise the boat and the crew; the most common criticism is value-for-money perception: the on-board experience is simpler than the price might suggest, which is worth knowing before you book rather than after.
Departure is from Nerstrandkaia in Tromsø. In winter the cruise sails in February and March; its booking calendar showed no dates from October 2026 to January 2027 and none in April 2027 when we checked on 13 October 2026. Expect real Arctic cold on deck in those winter months.
